How to choose the correct size for your tablecloth
On holidays and everyday life - a table covered with a tablecloth will create a feeling of coziness and celebration - a special mood in the room. Your family, friends and guests will feel especially loved and welcomed if the meal is served at a beautifully set table. In addition, the tablecloth has not only an aesthetic function - it will dampen the noise caused by the cutlery coming into contact with the table surface and will protect the table from scratches.
Here are some tips on choosing the right size tablecloth for your table!
- MEASURE THE TABLE SURFACE
Measure the length and width of the table for a rectangular, square or oval table.
Measure the diameter of the round table.
- DECIDE ABOUT LENGTH OF OVERGANG OR DROP YOU WISH FOR YOUR TABLECLOTH
Overhang is the length of the tablecloth from the table surface down. For the tablecloth, which you will use every day, we suggest an overhang about 20 cm long. For laying a festive table, the overhang of the tablecloth can be larger - 30-35 cm.
- CALCULATE THE SIZE OF THE TABLECLOTH
For square and oval table:
Table length + overhang x 2 = tablecloth length
Table width + overhang x 2 = tablecloth width
For a round table: table diameter + overhang x 2 = tablecloth diameter.
FOR EXAMPLE - table size is 100 x 200 cm and you would like to have a tablecloth with 35 cm overhang:
100 cm + 35 cm x 2 = 170 cm is width of the tablecloth
200 cm + 35 cm x 2 = 270 cm is length of the tablecloth.
